We also learn through activities inside and outside the classroom. Enjoy our class page.
'Sketch books' Summer 1
This summer term our theme is 'Sketch Books'. We are learning about different artists, portraits and paintings. We are looking at Van Gogh and his famous painting 'Sunflowers'. Along with this theme we are studying how plants grow in Science. We visited the forest school to plant our own sunflowers, I wonder who's will be the tallest? We have read and acted out the story 'The Enormous Turnip' and have planted our own vegetables in class. In Math's we are focusing on Measurement and Money this term.
The U.K. Theme Spring 2
This term we will be looking at the United Kingdom as our class theme. Paddington bear will be taking a trip across the country to visit England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. He will be visiting the capital cities and looking at famous landmarks, who lives there and the country's flags. In theme we will have lots of fun taking part in a traditional English afternoon tea, making sandwiches, fairy cakes and scones.
Farm to Fork Spring 1
Please keep checking this page for updated activities and click on the links above for weekly work.
This half term in Badgers class we will be looking at farming around the world. We will be finding out where our food comes from (plant or animal?) and how it gets to our local shops and supermarkets. In Literacy we will begin with some fiction stories such as the 'Carrot Club'. We will also explore non-fiction to make our own 'Farm to Fork' information book. Badgers class will act out and sequence the traditional story 'The Enormous Turnip'. In Mathematics we will explore measure this half term, by focusing on measuring height and length of different objects including vegetables and fruit to explore size!
The Deadly Dinosaurs Autumn 2
We learnt all about the deadly dinosaurs during Autumn 2. We read the story 'Tyrannosaurus Drip' and made our own dinosaur eggs during DT. We discovered facts about all the dinosaurs from the Triceratops to the Tyrannosaurus Rex and sorted them into Carnivore, Herbivores and Omnivores. We really enjoyed this theme and even made our own 'Dino Art' pictures.
Over the Rainbow Month Autumn 1
During Over the Rainbow Month we focused on Mental Health and Well-being in Badgers Class. We took part in 'Over the Rainbow Month' activities, all designed to promote a healthy body and mind. We did class yoga, mindfulness, mindful 'Mandala' art using pasta and paint, gardening, healthy eating and we have also learnt about different emotions and feelings by learning about the mood monsters! We have learnt about different strategies that can help manage our well-being and Mental Health and had fun making our own Salt Dough worry monsters and balloon blobs! Have a look below at some photos of the great activities we have been taking part in.
Home School Diaries
We ask families and carers to return the Home School diary each day, as this will enable the class staff to provide comments and information about your child's day in school. If there are particular things you wish to be informed about, please speak with the class teacher.
Individual Education Plans
These set out the priority educational targets that your child is working on for the term. IEPs are updated each term and sent home. If there is anything that you would particularly like us to be working on, please just let us know.
All children and young people are encouraged to engage in reading and develop a love of stories. We have a wide range of reading books, sensory books and big books to support the learning style and levels for each child. Every Friday, your child will receive a new reading book and this will be sent home with them to enjoy with you over the weekend. Please encourage your child to engage with the characters and stories and fill in the reading record to let your child's class staff know how they have got on and then please return to school on a Monday morning.
We kindly request that you send in £2 weekly. This contributes to any weekly resources such as snack and cookery that class might need.
