General Information

We ask parents and carers to return the home/school diary each day, as this will enable the class teacher to provide comments and information about your child's day at school. If there are particular things you wish to be informed about, please speak with your child's class team.

Individual Education Plan (IEP's)

This Plan sets out educational targets that your child is working on for the term. There is a section in the plan which provides parents and carers with activities or tasks that you can do at home to support your child's learning. Plans are updated each term and sent home.

Reading Books/ Homework

All children and young people are encouraged to engage in reading and develop a love of stories. We have a wide range of reading books, sensory books and big books to support the learning styles and levels for each child. Every Friday your child will receive a new reading book. Please encourage you child to engage with the characters and stories.

Leisure activities

We take part in leisure activities each week such as Swimming, Cycling and Basketball. Please ensure a full P.E. kit /swimming kit is brought to school and that items are clearly labelled to avoid confusion.

Swimming sessions take place on Monday as well as cycling.

Basketball takes place on a Wednesday and Friday.

We do cookery sessions every Monday Morning. During cookery we help prepare the food and items which are needed for our lesson. Each week we make various dishes relating to our topics.

All pupils in class take part in an Enterprise activity each week/half term/term. Enterprise supports children and young people to use their numeracy and literacy skills in a different context. This term we have made Christmas cards which will be getting sold in our Christmas fayre. Each pupil thoroughly enjoyed taking part in designing each card and selected the colours they wished to use,  Numeracy was also brought into this activity as the pupils had to arrange the cards into packs of five to be sold.

The Maths curriculum offers a personalised curriculum in which pupils learn, progress and achieve. Our aim is to provide pupils with learning opportunities were they can build on skills and generalise numeracy skills across a wide range of topics and in different settings, supporting their transition to adult life.

following the Key Stage 3 curriculum we comply to the ASDAN framework.
