Ahoy Cairngorm!
July 17th is World Emoji day! I have put up some fun emoji worksheets for you to try this week.
It is also time for us to get ready for the summer holidays now. You could make a poster or booklet showing all your favourite memories of school from this year. My favourite memories were going to Pizza Express and learning Taekwondo.
Hopefully you have your home work packs with you. If you don't, you can phone the school and arrange to collect one from the office.
Don't forget you can get a free trial for twinkl. It is completely free to use for 4 weeks, you can download worksheets, activities, workbooks and lots more. Set up a new account here www.twinkl.co.uk/offer and enter the code 'CVDTWINKLHELPS' when asked.
Have a good week, stay home and stay safe.
Claire
Doing this challenge from home will earn you a certificate for your file. You need to pick a challenge for physical, volunteering and skill, e.g.
physical = cycling, walking, yoga, aerobics
volunteering = doing chores around the house, making phone calls to check in on a family member
skill= cooking, sewing, art
Do each activity once a week and record it. You could take photographs or keep a diary about them. You could even set up your own file and add evidence to it each week. You can email your work in too! Visit the DofE page here to find out more.

General Information
We ask parents and carers to return the home/school diary each day, as this will enable the class teacher to provide comments and information about your child's day in school. If there are particular things you wish to be informed about, please speak with me.
Individual Education Plan (IEPs)
This plan sets out educational targets that your child is working on for the term. There is a section in the plan which provides parents and carers with activities or tasks you can do at home to support your child's learning. Plans are updated each term and sent home.
Reading Books
All children and young people are encouraged to engage in reading and develop a love of stories. We have a wide range of reading books, sensory books and big books to support the learning styles and levels for each child.
P.E.
P.E. lessons are on Wednesday afternoon.
Swimming sessions take place on alternate Fridays at The Meadows Pool in Maghull, or for some of our students, on Friday mornings at the Hydrotherapy pool in Rowan Park.
During our P.E. sessions we discuss the importance of keeping fit and the affect it has on our bodies. We look at ways we can keep healthy through a balanced diet and regular exercise.
Cookery
We do cookery every Monday afternoon. Please let us know if your child has any allergies.
Cookery lessons focus on independence skills and learning to cook for ourselves. We appreciate if parents can assist with the cost of buying cookery ingredients by sending in class funds each week.
Curriculum Subjects
Other subjects we will be learning about this Autumn Term are:
Literacy - Sharing Information:People, Creating an Interest: Media
Numeracy - Measures, Time, Shape
Science - Recycling and the environment

Halloween
We had lots of fun at Halloween, dressing up, playing traditional games and carving pumpkins.
Cairngorm Bakery
Every Thursday, we have been making and selling garlic bread in school. We have learnt to do different jobs and know the importance of washing our hands and keeping our workplace clean. We have had great reviews and feedback about our bread from staff around the school!
