Foxes class is a specialist class for pupils with Multiple Sensory Impairment (MSI), Multiple Disabilities and Visual Impairment (MDVI) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). Foxes class are taught by a qualified Teacher for Multi Sensory Impairment (QTMSI) and three teaching assistants.

Curriculum We follow a multi sensory approach to the curriculum, and use specialised equipment to help us understand the world around us. Our Targets are taken from the EYFS developmental framework and B-squared Engagement Steps which takes a holistic view of learners by focusing on; How each individual learns Acknowledging different abilities and achievements Learners preferred sensory and learning channels Individual ways of processing information Early Communication, Cognitive and Social skills that are the foundation of all future learning.
In Foxes class we use total communication strategies including: Daily signifiers to provide a better understanding of daily routines including daily; smell, sound and sensory colour bag. Objects cues and objects of reference Sign, pictures, symbols and real objects Communication aids, and technology help us to access learning and respond to the world around us. Mobility and orientation is important to us and we all follow a mobility and orientation route around school using sensory cues and markers to help us better understand our surroundings.

P.E. Due to COVID 19 restrictions at present we are unable to access swimming. Swimming sessions take place on a rota basis, weekly. Please send in swimwear weekly, and ensure that your child has swimwear with a built-in incontinence panel, or brings a swim nappy each week. Rebound Therapy is on a rota basis. This takes place each Thursday morning. Our topics this term is: Team Games |

Community visits– Due to Covid 19 restrictions, at present we are not participating in Community Based Visits.

Enterprise All pupils in the class take part in an enterprise activity each term. Enterprise supports children and young people to use their numeracy and literacy skills in a different context. This term we are making and selling Christmas decorations and novelty items.

General Information We ask parents and carers to return the home / school diary each day, as this will enable the class teacher to provide comments and information about your child’s day in school. If there are particular things you wish to be informed about, please speak with me.
Class Funds We kindly ask that you send in £2 each week. This contributes to sensory items, for your child to feel and explore, taste and smell.
Individual Education Plan(IEP’s) This plan sets out educational targets that your child is working on for the term. There is a section in the plan which provides parents and carers with activities or tasks you can do at home to support your child’s learning. Plans are updated each term and sent home.
Reading Books All children and young people are encouraged to engage in reading and develop a love of stories. Please encourage your child to engage with the characters and stories. Welcome to Summer Term 2022
Hard to believe we are at summer term already.
Always a busy and lovely term, which ends the school year.
Our Theme this term is: Towers, Tunnels and Turrets
Events during the summer term will include: Earth Day, , Enterprise, The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, Sports Day, and our usual 'Artist of the Month'.
Andy Warhol- is Artist of the Month for May.
As this is the hot and sunny term-please remember to apply a long-acting factor 50 sunscreen to your child each day before they come to school.
