Welcome to Secondary 2!

Christmas arrived early in Tyne today with a sudden snowfall - just in time for the school Christmas video!

We were lucky enough this week to have a fantastic visit from a local scientist - Wacky Jackie.

KS3 classes joined together for a Science assembly to learn about Electricty.

She spoke about the safety aspects of working with electricity and why we should always be careful.

Those who were brave enough used the equipment to watch electricity moving inside an orb when we moved our hands and for the really brave we could touch the Van der Graaf and experience safe electric shock - this went down really well!

S2 are also known as Tyne, welcome to our page.

Our class teacher is Kellie Roberts and she is supported by:

Cathie McDonald (Mon- Fri)

Jean Mc Phillips (Mon-Wed)

Liz Rowlands (Thurs - Fri)

Please review our page every half term as we will be updating with activities and work we are doing so you can see how busy we are in Key Stage 3.

If you have any concerns or wishes please contact us through the home school diary or telephone before school at the office - Thanks

General Information

We ask parents and carers to return the home / school diary each day, as this will enable the class teacher to provide comments and information about your child’s day in school. If there are particular things you wish to be informed about, please speak with me.

Individual Education Plan (IEP’s)

This plan sets out educational targets that your child is working on for the term.  There is a section in the plan which provides parents and carers with activities or tasks you can do at home to support your child’s learning.   Plans are updated each term and sent home.

Reading Books

All children and young people are encouraged to engage in reading and develop a love of stories.  We have a wide range of reading books, sensory books and big books to support the learning styles and levels for each child.  Books will be changed regularly and we ask you try to sit with your child and engage with the characters and stories.

Class Funds

We kindly ask that you send in £2 each week. This contributes to snack and cookery ingredients that we use each week.

P .E. sessions take place each Wednesday. Our topics this term are Team games and Dance .  Please ensure a full P.E. kit (change of T-shirt) is brought to school and that items are clearly labelled to avoid confusion. Swimming sessions will take place for Tyne class on a Thursday.

We have now started our curriculum work and below you can see some of the work we have done so far. Each child's individual learning pattern is specific to their needs to ensure they gain the most from their learning experience.
