Please keep checking back for all our news and updates! We look forward to working extra hard to show you our lovely pictures!
As part of S1's Geography topic this term we have been looking at Indian culture. We found out that they eat a dish called curry so, as a class we went to a restaurant to try some delicious curry! We had a lovely time and it was a great opportunity to socialise with each other. :)
S1 had a fantastic time at Sports Day and raising money for lap the RAP! Take a look at our pictures below.
As part of S1's Enterprise we have been selling juices and smoothies. We decided to go out and buy our ingredients from Tesco. We made a list in class before going and then in Tesco picked up the ingredients, put them on the conveyor belt and paid - we had a lovely time!
S1 have taken part in an art project with the Atkinson Museum in Southport. The project looked at exploring different artists and using lots of techniques. All the pupils in S1 had a fantastic day and visited the Museum after we had painted. We finished our lovely day off with a visit to McDonalds. On our trip we learnt to work as part of a class team, examined art work, found out about local and ancient history and most of all had fun!
This week we celebrated World Book day! S1 had lots of fun dressing up as their favourite book characters. Take a look at our costumes...
For S1's Art topic this term we have been learning all about Aboriginal Art. S1 pupils have explored a range of Australian Art work and used a range of materials to express their creativity! First we looked at a Didgeridoo and had a go at playing it - everyone loved the unique sound. We also created dot drawing pictures on animals and made our own Totem Pole's of Art work. We also went outside and collected natural resources (mud, grass, leaves and soil) to create natural paintings in class - we all loved getting messy!
In History S1 have looked at WW2. We all enjoyed making Gas Masks and watching films based on the war.
We looked at Ration Books that were used during the War, S1 made a sandwich based on one ration of bread, ham and butter. Each pupil had their own Ration Book and exchanged their items in the 'shop' - we had lots of fun! We also looked at people who led each Army during the war. We decided to create our own leaders in S1 to take responsibility for jobs around our class.
S1 have been very busy Elves over the past couple of weeks! We have made Reindeer Hot Chocolate for our Enterprise, performed in the Christmas Assembly, had breakfast with Santa and had a visit from Elf on the Shelf :)
The Elf had stolen our chocolate and left S1 a map to find him on the RAP. We got wrapped up and went outside to find our treasure. When we had found all the clues we were very lucky to catch him! He then came into class to watch Home Alone with us all. What a lovely Friday afternoon :)
In Science S1 have planted Cress and looked at the life cycle of a Pumpkin. We had lots of fun testing out if the Pumpkin could float and how tall it was during our lesson. After all our testing we carved our Pumpkins and made soup....mmmmmm!
